Our maxims
We have a number of maxims which we believe embody the key to effective leadership. These are
- an ability to listen and willingness to understand the person(s) you will be leading
- being clear about what you want to achieve as a manager, and about your expectations
- asking for and follow up goals and results – things which are not followed up are regarded as unimportant
- having the courage to take difficult decisions – and without delay
- seeing opportunities in every obstacle - not the other way around
- acting inclusively with respect to the whole company/department/group, and making it clear that we stand and fall together
- if you fail to agree on something, speak to the person immediately - positive feedback can also be given by e-mail or texts
- providing ample information and communicating effectively - if you have no useful information, then say so
- take notice of everyone and care for the individual members of the group – people notice that you do and feel greater confidence in you
- be honest, it pays in the long run - when you tell the truth, you do not need to keep track of what you have said
- use internal benchmarking – “keep it simple, stupid” – first check what expertise and resources are available within the group, unit and company, and use these
- base decisions on convincing arguments which stand up to scrutiny
- look after your most demanding clients – both internal and external - they are an excellent guarantee that you and the company are improving and are keeping up with the competition
- accept that ownership and commitment are factors critical for success
